Christmas in TRINIDAD & TOBAGO has always been about the home, family and more importantly another reason outside of Carnival to "LIME" which is fondly called, ‘Paranging’.
"Paranging" is similar to the international practice of "Carolling" which is spreading happiness and joy door to door through song; these songs usually in Spanish dialect is a way of bringing communities and people together, not to mention sample some delicious food and alcoholic beverages. Individuals who engage in such activities are called, “Paranderors”.
Now the GRINCH who is Anti-Fun and Anti-Happiness will take this opportunity to ensure that any visitor to his home feels as unwelcomed as possible and ensures that he has as little to provide for their refreshment. Ultimately the Grinch is cheap and rude to anyone spreading this Christmas joy. He is also very creative with his tricks to spend as little as possible during the Christmas season. Suggesting that he is a bachelor or loner so it’s not much fun to Parang him.
In his song entitled "Bachelor" he creates a strategy to ensure that no visitor will stay or feels welcomed. It’s his plan to "DUCK" them, all while creating an uncomfortable and surely not festive environment.
BACHELOR is entertaining as well as relevant to most individuals who may or may not wish to financially support the free-ness associated with providing for these visitors, who most times are only interested in what drinks or food they may get for FREE.
